Prof., Last night at Bert's jazz bar I thought of a key piece in the puzzle of my "music" origin of language and culture hypothesis ( sound making other than by articulate speech) : the first medium of language was clapping hands ! Now hands free to clap while walking ( originating with habitual bipedalism) would make bipedalism coincident with a clapping language.

Also, singing is inarticulate voicing . Singing could be used to build a language before the time of origin of the voice box . And they had tongues ! Clicking sounds could be made.

Homo Habilis had to have symbolic-inheritance , language, to make stone tools _in a style_ . Oldwan, Auschelan (spelling) are _styles_, meaning made according to a design, a pattern, which can only be done by symbolic thinking ( imagination as Marx says in the chapter on labor's basic elements in _Capital_).

I am shocked that the authors of the text book for my Physical Anthropology book only see evidence of the first "symbolic" thinking in Neanderthal or Homo sapiens "abstract" drawings or designs ! They have already reported in an earlier chapter the beginning of the Stone Age named after stone tools made in styles. What do they think makes the stone tools of the Stone Age different from all previous materials associated with fossils ??!!

Cheerio !
