We greet you with pride and honor today! Last Saturday 8,2014 we took a stand united as Beloved Detroiters who truly want change. Today we say thank you for your love, support, energy and trust! We are anxious to work with everyone and build towards justice and peace. We want those who came out, to continue to give us the chance to prove that if nothing else, we can have pride, dignity, fun, peace and love in this life. Even if we are forever on the front line! We want our efforts to be what gives us the substance needed to build a NEW Works New Culture that is rich and productive towards a self sustain life worth living!
There are a lot of problems in this world that we may never see eradicated, but must we go through this struggle in pain? The Melting Pot say’s HELL NO! We Say we gon make it do what it do! While fighting atrocities and genocide. We are going to embrace our selves, we are going to embrace others. Work, laugh, play together while being resourceful as possible. We figure if we put all our minds to it, we can make something happen, mentally spiritually, financially, morally, respectfully moving towards the peace we deserve! Instead of always on the defense full of worry and struggle, we shall live!
We have decided that we don’t want a group that spends most it’s time just meeting and talking. We want more resolve then words bouncing off of four walls that hold our voices in. We want solutions that lead to resolve! We want to have a positive effect on our lives! We have many tools and much knowledge! The wheel has been made we just need to put some thread on our run down tires! This will come slowly but surely as we take this Ride of Detroit!
O.K so what are we going to do Beloved Detroit? Were going to do all kinds of things, from Workshops to Potato Sack Races, Fundraisers to Baby Sitting,,,,, Talent Shows, Bake Offs, we are even going to make a patch quilt together that were going to auction off to the world! WE PROMISE, IF EVERYONE HELPS WE CAN WIN! We have come up with our first activity dated for Dec.7,2014. We used everyone’s concerns as a way to get a scope of what needs are immediate attention and B.lack O.wn B.usiness and education were in the top two.
So we brainstormed and came up with doing a BOB HOP WHATS A B.O.B HOP? IT IS, INSTEAD OF A BAR HOP,,, WE ARE GOING TO GET A PARTY BUS TO DO A B.LACK O.WNED B.UISNESS HOP,,,,,,,,We want to encourage the Melting Pot as well as the public to meet us on Sunday the 23rd at Club Celebraties @ 10am in the morning,, we will board the bus at 10:30 and go to four pre-selected black owned businesses (when selecting the business we will be mindful of the economical hardships we are under) and spend our money hopefully with at least 50 Beloved Detroiter's UNITED! We will ride the party bus going to the businesses that we have made contact with! We will ask each owner to do a presentation on who, what, how, and why.... who they are, how they got started,, why we should continue to support them AND WHY THEY FEEL IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THEM TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY!,,, SO this would be sort of a economic educating field trip!
After it’s all said and done we will end the trip back at Club Celebraties where we will Tail Gate the Lions game at 1pm,,, congregating and bonding,,,,, We hope so many people will be interested that it turns into a caravan with many cars, following the party bus,,,,,
We have to start somewhere, and we have to think outside the box with great exciting ideas,,,, We think this is one! There will be no drugs or drinks allowed on bus but folks can drink up when we get back to the bar,,, I will be asking Clark for drink specials!,,,,,,, please respond to this with any ideas or concerns!
