From: Fredrick Redmond Secretary-Treasurer/Executive Vice President, AFL-CIO

From : Fredrick Redmond Secretary-Treasurer/Executive Vice President, AFL-CIO Charles, Happy Earth Day! I am proud to celebrate the fact that every single day union members are on the front lines of building a clean energy future—one that supports workers and protects the planet. Call on your senators to support President Biden’s plan to build a better America NOW! The era of pro-union climate action is finally here. Thanks to steps from labor and environmental organizers, we are on our way to meeting our climate goals. The bipartisan infrastructure deal signed by President Biden laid the groundwork for critical investments in creating good jobs to help fight climate change. But we can meet our climate goals only if we also pass the Building a Better America agenda, which puts aside half a trillion dollars to build a clean energy future. This would be the single most consequential climate action in U.S. history, and our unions will be front and center when it comes to implementation. On Earth Day, tell your senators that workers and the planet need policy investments. The Building a Better America agenda will make historic investments in energy and manufacturing supply chain union jobs. This plan will support prevailing wage and apprentice utilization, union-made electric vehicles and other technology, and Buy American; as well as additional funding for rail, transit and the postal vehicle fleet. Building a Better America puts working families first and would ensure a livable planet for future generations. This is the only way the United States will meet its climate targets, increase access to good union jobs and advance environmental justice. Make a quick call in support of an equitable clean energy future!
