Sex Matters: in life | in law We want to send Time to Think to the heads of medical schools Sponsor a copy to send: Deans of medical schools; Heads of professional bodies; Key politicians. Investigative journalist Hannah Barnes’s book Time to Think is a forensic examination of the care provided to vulnerable young people at the NHS’s flagship gender clinic for children. It documents how ideological concerns took priority over clinical practice. We want to make sure that the book is read by senior leaders at the UK’s medical schools and professional bodies. Forty medical schools have signed up to the GLADD Charter against so-called “conversion therapy”. But rather than protecting gender-distressed children, the approach proposed in the charter will stand in the way of proper clinical practice. We think medical leaders should think again. We need 100 people to sponsor a copy of the book. If you donate £18.50 we will get a copy, together with a letter, in the post this week to the Dean or Vice-Chancellor of one of the medical schools. Yes, I will sponsor a copy Are you a medic? Just as important as getting the book into the right people’s hands is making sure it gets read. If you are a clinician, in practice or retired, you could make a huge difference by writing a personal follow-up letter. Tell us which institution you have a connection to, and we will send you details of who to write to, and guidance on what to say.
