Gender is not identical with sex. But it is a cultural system , a structure , in the structural anthropological or linguistic sense, semiotic structure ( see deSaussure) THAT IS BUILT ON ANALOGY TO THE BIOLOGICAL SEX STRUCTURE.
In other words , the basic binary opposition of the gender structure is male/female on analogy to sex. Then the gender structure is elaborated more than the biological structure . Thereby, sex and gender are not identical . Homeomorphic maybe in the Group Theory Algebra sense .
