peopleto people diplomacy works. Uh the people that I see coming to China from the US are always shocked because it's not the way they were told. It's safe. You can walk around at 4:00 a.m. in the morning. I've mentioned this many times, but you know, they have high-speed trains. They have roads that don't have, you know, millions of potholes in them. Uh you have urban environments which are being rapidly improved to make the cities extremely livable. And uh there's a lot of care and attention not only to um you know make sure that China continues economically but the benefits of the economics are being spread to all people because anyone could go to a public parkeconomics are being spread to all people because anyone could go to a public parkbenefits from the area in which you came from or you were registered with. So if 27:10 you came from uh Shanghai and you moved to Beijing, your benefits would be available in Shanghai but not in 27:16 Beijing. So now they're changing that. But my my point is they're they're making tremendous amounts of of efforts 27:24 uh towards um a better and more sustainable society. Uh you you also saw 27:30 that with this eradication of extreme poverty which continues. It wasn't just a buzzword. Um local officials are 27:38 graded on their ability to keep people off um the poverty lists uh and to make 27:46 sure that their needs are being answered. And some of that is, you know, vocational education. Some of it is 27:51 relocating people so that they're not stuck in areas which are unsustainable. Um and in some cases where people have 27:59 you know they're they're injured or mentally uh ill uh there's are direct 28:04 subsidies that are given to them uh to make 26:02 and enjoy it. Uh schooling uh is being improved. Um health care is being 26:08 extended. uh they're in the process of relaxing what they call the hooko hookco 26:14 system uh which is the registration system. It actually dates back to imperial China when you were registered 26:20 to a particular area and if you wanted to travel from that area you had to get permission and aotments of of um you 26:29 know imperial grain and also benefits were based on the number of people um in 26:35 a particular area. uh that fast forward today, it's culturally accepted that you 26:42 have your home area. Uh but because migrants have been such an important part of China's story in terms of development, uh they have been trying to find a way to make it easier for those who have in fact permanently moved to 26:56 the cities to get benefits in those cities. Previously under the hookah system, you know they're they're injured or mentally uh ill uh there's are direct 28:04 subsidies that are given to them uh to make sure that they're you know not living on the street or you know uh suffering unduly. So China is moving ahead. <

the US unfortunately is moving in the opposite direction. Uh the 1% is getting wealthier and um you know the middle class as a whole is declining. Um, and a lot of people are feeling very fragile. They, you know, feel that they're living paycheck to paycheck. And we're talking well over 60% of Americans believe that. Um, and they don't, you know, 40 40% don't have $400 in case of an emergency. Uh, and and that's, you know, that's that's frightening. An ambulance would cost uh, you know, somewhere between $800 and $1,500 depending on distance. Um, things like that. And uh if you don't have uh the money, how are you going to pay for this thing? Uh a lot of people are maxed out on their credit cards. They're now buying fate. Um but uh yeah um it's not going to be solved politically. <

If you're not living out in the forest by yourself, I would defy you to live a day without touching something that was made in China because the nuts, the bolts, the plastic, the glass, um the clothes, uh shoes, uh you go all across the board, chemicals, medicines. uh these are in majority coming from China because China got into these uh low margin businesses that um Europe and America weren't they weren't prepared to support or they moved their businesses to uh not just China but other places in Asia because it was simply cheaper to produce there.<

China started owning the market because they said okay this is a sure thing if we if we uh use economies of scale get very efficient um we can get large orders all right there might be only 3% return but um you know we we can do we can do large orders which means that there's quite a bit of money at the end although it's a very very low return 3% Transcript .........~ China because the nuts, the bolts, the plastic, the glass, um the clothes, uh shoes, uh you go all across the board, chemicals, medicines. un these are in majority coming from China because China got into these uh low margin businesses that um Europe and America weren't they weren't prepared to support or they moved their businesses to uh not just China but other places in Asia because it was simply cheaper to produce there. China started owning the market because they said okay this is a sure thing if we if we uh use economies of scale get very efficient um we can get large orders all right there might be only 3% return but um you know we we can do we can do large orders which means that there's quite a bit of money at the end although it's a very very low return 3% of 90% of a market is better than 10% or 10% of a market if you know what I mean.although it's a very very low return 3% 30:37 of 90% of a market is better than 10% or 10% of a market if you know what I mean. 30:42 Right. So um it's uh it makes a tremendous difference and it has resulted in China 30:48 having so much leverage not only uh with the United States but um with the world 30:55 uh so many inputs uh for instance you know when people start talking about India and India's growing deficit with 31:04 China what they forget to talk about is that India is buying inputs from China 31:11 which then are brought out to India put into products which are then sold overseas for profit. Okay. So you know 31:20 it's not simply oh it's going up and somehow evil China is making India buy 31:25 stuff to the extent it's consumer goods it's the Indian people the consumers who 31:31 are choosing Chinese goods and it's not because they like China most Indians do not like China and if they had other 31:36 brands uh they might uh they would probably buy those. uh China offers a 31:42 price value uh that is very appealing <
