Are philosophers like Russell, Moore, and Frege still influential and read today?

Justin : "You mean, analytical philosophers? That’s the dominant school in English speaking countries. And yes, we still read at least Frege. I’m not sure that Russell and Moore are of more than historical interest at this point."

Jim : "I think that Russell's Problems of Philosophy is still taught to undergrads. I don't think that too much of his work would be the at the center of contemporary philosophers' research. I think that was already the case within Russell's own lifetime. Probably one of the more dubious advantages of living so long was he got to see his own work superseded."

Justin : "The Principia was really important in its day, and laid the foundations for modern logic as well as computer science, but of course the fundamental project of reducing mathematics to logic was spectacularly proven to have failed by Goedel. No one has worked in the frameworks that he developed or on the problems that he concern himself with since my time in philosophy, which would go back to the mid-1970s. Moore’s version of Ethical non-naturalism likewise attracts no interest, much less adherence. But people still work on Frege."
