Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala have joined forces to create a massive new nature reserve in the Great Mayan Forest, now the second-largest in Latin America after the Amazon. Called the Biocultural Corridor of the Great Mayan Forest, the protected area covers 14 million acres across the three countries and will help safeguard around 7,000 species, including 200 endangered ones like jaguars and scarlet macaws.
