i agree . Random = Chance : When scientists referred to something as random , it means they don't know the cause , what "directs" it .


Necessity vs Chance : chance means they don't know the necessary condition or cause .


So-called genetic drift as an evolutionary drift ( randomness) means scientists don't have a natural selection hypothesis as to what "directs" the evolutionary change in a certain direction .
