Yes Black Bottom was removed , but Black then , liberated from confinement in Black Bottom, took over the whole city ! The whole city became overwhelmingly majority Black population. That's how Mayor Young was mayor for 20 years. Detroit became Black Top, with the old Black Bottom area , Greater Lafayette Park populated significantly with Duboisian Talented Tenths, Black Top's like Coleman Young himself.
