Husbandry, breeding, animals originated circa 6,000 years ago. Notice the same term
"husband" was used for ruling class men's relationship to their wives ; these Masters were using their wives, as you say, to breed with and produce their heirs to pass on their private property riches to. The Masters also enforced monogamy as part of the breeding. Just like they did with animals regulating who bred with whom.
