Yes we still/ Can and will.

Dialectical realism trumps pragmatism from time to time. That's what we're going for this time. Real life is very contradictory, and contradictions are where the change is at. It is coming from the bottom up, as Obama always said.

As a follower of Obama, I'm for the change Obama represented in his 2008 campaign, and still represents by much of his Presidential Executive action and forbearance, so far.

But ,Obama knows We have to "make" him do it, We in our overwhelming majority . We are the 99% !

The change we believe in  is harder to make than we thought. It is messy, zig-zaggy, but we are in a battle that can make it if we win. There is danger and opportunity in the struggle with the desperate and wild Republicans.  It is like a new Civil War against  Republican Confederates.

Yet why are the Republicans so desperate ? They sense a weakness in themselves , in their status as the elite ruling class. The 1% feels vulnerable to the 99% rising for income equality
Moreover, the US bourgeois ruling class knows , evidently better than most American leftists, that the election and re-election of Obama means Richard Nixon's Southern Strategy,  the heart of the GOP's ( Gang Of Pigs') and Reaganite GOPer's electoral devices, has been slain.  There is an anti-Racist national majority in America ( in the Communist Party's phrase). More profoundly , the key division of the US working class by white supremacy has been dealt a death blow by so many White people voting to elect and re-elect a Black President, and of a single-mother....who was White; the child of a mixed Black/White union, the greatest fear of the White European Nationalists.

Michigan political dialectics: for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction

Although, because American elections and politics are significantly personality
contests and celebrity driven - there has been over the last six years
a lot of focus on Obama the person - it is really not the best way to analyze politics
, that is with so much emphasis on persons, personality, Individuals.

But let's consider how is Obama's personality and Obama as a
person interacting with the movement ,if so, and the direction of the
political spectrum, laws and programs of the government ?

The positive potential I see is actually more in the movement of things
created by the conflict between masses of voters on the left and the masses of
voters on the right , large numbers of people; for as , Obama said in his first Presidential campaign,"
change comes from the bottom up."; and this conflict can beget movement
from the "bottom", potentially.  I wonder if crises do ,in the cliche ,
 represent danger and opportunity.

Obama's election was a lurch in the opposite direction of the predominant
direction of the last thirty or so years since Reagan's movement
shifted the political spectrum to the right. Where ever Obama's actual
Presidency and the fed government has ended up, his election
represented a sort of explosion of pent-up left and progressive
sentiment for change to the left and progressive direction.   This
begot a reaction from the right focused in the Tea Party, which made Obama's personality and identity a major target in their anti-rational political assault of 2010.

The hope I see at the mass, not personality level, is that now the left and progressive masses of people, the real America,  will move even further left and progressive pushed
that way by the Tea Party extremism and overreach; by the insane politics and crises they have inflicted. Again , my hope, since 2008 hope, is that more people will move left and progressive recoiling
against the horror of the tea Republican fascistoids  in a sort of negative dialectic,
an opposite reaction. Will the tea Republican rape of majority Black
cities in Michigan , imposition of Work-for-less laws in
the historically union strong state of Michigan and war on Women
beget a strong fight back from Black people
, unions and Women ? The tea Republicans swept into state takeover in
2010 in reaction to Obama, of course.   Will there be a negation of this negation in 2014 ? Yes, we can

Republicans now have Obama right where Obama wants them to. And consider the odd situation in which that leaves the President. As much as he has been under attack from Republicans over executive ...
