US Social Democracy began with Franklin Roosevelt Liberalism. It has progressed in a dialectical zig -zag with Roosevelt , Kennedy/Johnson , Carter, Obama, Biden as zigs ; Truman , Clinton as zags . Those zigs are advances won by the US wage-labor class. US Social Democracy is no more at a dead end than Socialism is at a dead end because of the end of the Soviet Union . A new socialist zig has been started by China .
