Good morning reader, The Michigan Supreme Court swept aside objections to ballot proposals on abortion and voting rights and ordered both measures be put to state voters in November. The decision was a rebuke to Republicans on the Board of State Canvassers, which is now expected to certify both proposals Friday. In other news: A special prosecutor will head a state investigation into possible vote tabulator tampering. A state prosecutor’s group chose Democratic Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J. Hilson to head the probe. Republican attorney general nominee Matthew DePerno is among the individuals under investigation. A federal judge’s ruling in Texas – which found for businesses that didn’t want to provide HIV drug coverage because they said it violated their religious beliefs – may impact Michigan coverage if upheld by higher courts.
