which remains, worst of all from Washington's perspective, a socialist country led by a Communist Party

Why the US ruling class is terrified by China's rise... which remains, worst of all from Washington's perspective, a socialist country led by a Communist Party.< <

Mar16 2026 When the US helped integrate China into the global economy from the late 1970s, the plan was straightforward: China would make cheap goods, open its markets to Western investment, remain permanently at the bottom of the international hierarchy, and quietly abandon its socialist system through peaceful evolution. What actually happened was something else entirely - China become the main engine of global economic growth, a global leader in renewables, telecoms, advanced infrastructure and space exploration, a country that has broken out of underdevelopment without recourse to war, occupation or neoliberal shock therapy, and which remains, worst of all from Washington's perspective, a socialist country led by a Communist Party.<

this clip from an interview with @thebridgetoChina, Carlos Martinez argues that the New Cold War against China is not a conventional geopolitical rivalry between comparable powers - it is a hybrid war waged by a declining empire against socialism and multipolarity. The current aggression against Iran, Venezuela and Cuba all feed into the same logic: weaken China's relationships, disrupt its energy supplies, and build military options for future confrontation. China meanwhile is steadily pushing a global agenda of peace, development, sustainability, cooperation, and adherence to international law. Full interview here: • • Why Does the West Fear... <
